Susan Carranza
Susan Carranza is a graduate of Louisiana State University. Her advanced training is in art therapy. She now teaches art at Spiral Gallery, her private studio in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Susan’s art reflects numerous phases of both subject and media. Her early works includes a series of etchings completed in Washington D.C. In New Orleans she explored figure drawing, papermaking, bookmaking and collage. In recent years her collage constructions have taken a unique turn with the fusion of clay and glass. Susan is always sketching and recording the enviroment around her and her most recent work were done while in Italy.
Susan has always been a collector of visual artifacts and found objects,. As she combines these personal images- drawings, photographs, handmade papers, fabrics – they become tapestries of her experiences and memories; layers of life’s dramas.
