Elihu Carranza
Born in San Jose, California. during the second year of high school I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving in combat during the Viet Nam War. Upon leaving military service, I participated in San Jose State University’s Humanities and Science Program, a two-year study, followed by degrees from Stanford University of Palo Alto, Columbia University of New York City, and in 1989 I graduated from Westminster Theological Seminary of Philadelphia.
Since 1978, I have worked from my studio and home in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

The interview is just over two hours, and the introduction by Leah Cohen is a summary of the oral presentation about serving in the Vietnam War. Leah and I planned for three years to bring the interview to this end, a short report about my combat experiences
